Mujahid, SQ Chy’s death sentences executed

Death sentences of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury were executed at Dhaka Central Jail at 12:55 am on Sunday.
Jail sources said both were hanged together for their crimes against humanity during the war of Liberation.
Inspector General (Prisons) Brig Gen Syed Iftekhar Uddin, Additional Inspector General (Prisons) Col Fazlul Kabir, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Sheikh Tofazzal Hossain Miah, civil surgeon Abdul Malek Mridha and district magistrates Tanvir Ahmed Fakir and Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman were present.
Their bodies will be sent to their respective village homes for burial, said jail sources.
“Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid were executed at 12:55am,” said Inspector General (Prisons) Brig Gen Syed Iftekhar Uddin.
Prisoners Shahjahan and Raju were the hangmen. They were assisted by some other prisoners.
