48-hour hartal from Saturday
Osman Faruq, an adviser to the BNP chairperson, announced the agitation programme at a press conference at his Gulshan residence this evening.
He added that the ongoing nationwide nonstop blockade of rail, roads and waterways will continue alongside the shutdown.
The government has deployed a large number of law enforcers at the Gulshan residence of Khaleda soon after she on December 24 announced ‘March for Democracy’ for December 29 protesting the one-sided parliamentary polls.
Barred by the law enforcers from leaving home to join the march, Khaleda extended the programme to the next day when she also could not attend the march.
A day later, the combine declared the indefinite blockade to protest the election which the opposition parties have boycotted demanding election under a non-party arrangement.
