More than 60 budding entrepreneurs attended a free business networking event to boost small businesses in Tower Hamlets.
Hosted by Tower Hamlets Council, The Start Small, THINK BIG event on February 26 at Idea Store Whitechapel, provided advice, support and tips on how to start or grow your business.
More than 60 budding entrepreneurs attended a free business networking event to boost small businesses in Tower Hamlets.
Hosted by Tower Hamlets Council, The Start Small, THINK BIG event on February 26 at Idea Store Whitechapel, provided advice, support and tips on how to start or grow your business.
Industry experts led workshops on strategies to develop businesses and how social media can be used effectively to reach customers.
Throughout the day there were opportunities for participants to get advice and information from specialists and to meet successful business owners to find out how they got their big break and overcame barriers.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said: “Starting up your own business can be exciting and daunting at the same time which is why the council is hosting events like this to equip residents with all the advice and skills they need to be a success.”
“I am committed to supporting local businesses and increasing jobs for residents. Small businesses play an important role in boosting the economy.”
Cllr Shafiqul Haque, cabinet member for jobs and skills, added: “We had good feedback last time we held this event and decided to do another one to inspire residents to take the plunge and set up their own business.”
The networking event comes as part of the council’s pledge to support local businesses.
Companies which took part in the event included: East London Small Business Enterprise, Adam Solicitors, Barclays and the council’s Trading Standards team.
