The victims in the first 14 weeks of 2018
London’s year of horror so far
A rise in violent crime in London has sparked fears the capital’s annual murder rate could overtake New York’s.
Already, Sky News has identified 47 people who have been killed in a London borough since the start of the year.
The New York Police Department has started murder investigations into the deaths of 50 people in the same period.
The latest to die in London is a 38-year-old man who died during a suspected burglary.
If the number of people being shot or knifed to death continues at the same rate, the amount of murder probes will outstrip the figure for 2017, when 130 were launched.
