Mahathir praises Bangladesh’s development

MahathirFormer Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad highly appreciated Bangladesh’s development in recent times in various areas, particularly in the field of infrastructure.
Mahathir’s appreciation came as he paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Gonobhaban residence here this evening, PM’s special assistance Mahabubul Hoque Shakil told reporters.
“Bangladesh’s success in different fields, particularly in developing its infrastructure, is remarkable,” he said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, her government has attached importance not only to the capital but also to all areas of the country for development.
The government is particularly working for strengthening the rural economy to stop migration of rural people to urban areas, she said.
Sheikh Hasina also mentioned her government’s steps for expansion of education in rural areas, improvement of healthcare services and development of communication systems.
The government also reached the internet facilities to the rural people as part of the government’s vision to build a Digital Bangladesh.
PM’s son Sajib Wazed Joy, PM’s advisor on international affairs Dr. Ghohar Rizvi, state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam, PM’s Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder, Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque and Malaysian envoy in Bangladesh Norlin Othman, among others, were present.
The Prime Minister hosted a dinner in honour of Dr Mahathir and his spouse Dr Siti Hasmah bt Hj Mohd Ali at Gonobhaban. -BSS
