Gold bars seized at Shahjalal Airport

The customs officials held a man with 28 gold bars at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city early on Friday. The detained Md Basar landed at Dhaka in a flight of Emirates Airlines from Dubai in the morning.
Director of Customs Department Mainul Khan said following secret information police stopped Basar at around 8:00am.
During search, the customs officials discovered the gold bars weighing 3 kgs from his shoes and bodies.
In last few months the gold haul at the airports has turned a phenomenon.  Almost every day, the authorities were seizing gold.
