Tower Hamlets Council funds new jobs for women

Tower Hamlets Council has today announced the creation of its Women into Health Jobs programme.
Funded by the council, the scheme will train and employ 100 local women in a range of roles, including health visiting, childcare, maternity services, and social care.
The jobs will be available on a part- time basis and with flexible working hours, supporting women with children and childcare needs.
The programme is also designed to complement government funded apprenticeships which are just for people under 25, as Women into Health targets women over the age of 25.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, said: “These jobs are designed to remove the barriers that prevent women from moving into employment.
I am pleased to have found the budget to create these unique, and potentially life changing opportunities for our residents.”
Tower Hamlets’ residents will be able to apply for the new jobs in the Spring of 2014.
