{"id":1514,"date":"2014-03-26T10:25:59","date_gmt":"2014-03-26T10:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/?p=1514"},"modified":"2014-03-26T10:25:59","modified_gmt":"2014-03-26T10:25:59","slug":"tower-hamlets-council-wins-national-award-for-procurement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/tower-hamlets-council-wins-national-award-for-procurement\/","title":{"rendered":"Tower Hamlets Council wins national award for procurement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tower Hamlets Council has won a national award for procurement in the prestigious National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards 2014\/15.<br \/>\nTower Hamlets came first in the category for GO Procurement Innovation or Initiative of the Year Award for Health and Health Related Organisations.<br \/>\nThe award was given for the work that the council has done to promote and develop a consortia made up of local third sector organisations, which have bid competitively for social care tenders.<br \/>\nThe council was also recognised for the work it has done to develop ways of procuring services that enable and support successful consortia tenders.<br \/>\nThe initiative included changing both the council\u2019s internal procurement procedures and processes and the way the council engages with local social care providers.<br \/>\nThe council has so far completed three major procurement exercises resulting in three successful services being commissioned.<br \/>\nThe services have delivered ground-breaking and innovative benefits for residents, enhanced local partnership working and improved value for money.<br \/>\nMayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said: \u201cI am proud that the council continues to find new ways to deliver excellent services, despite wider financial challenges. This is a fantastic recognition of our hard work and commitment to local residents.\u201d<br \/>\nCouncillor Alibor Choudhury, Cabinet Member for Resources said: \u201cThe GO awards recognise and reward excellence and achievement in the public sector.
