\"Twer\"<\/a>Sixth-form students in Tower Hamlets have posted the borough\u2019s best ever A-level results, an analysis of this year\u2019s figures shows.
\nHundreds of teenagers across the borough learned of their results on Thursday, August 15, either online or by collecting them from their schools and colleges.
\nAnd collectively they have achieved the best results the borough has ever produced.
\nMayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman, who joined students in celebrating at Central Foundation Girls\u2019 School on results morning, said: \u201cOur young people are proving year after year that Tower Hamlets schools are beacons of excellence.
\n\u201cThis success demonstrates that with hard work from students, teachers and parents there is nothing our young people cannot achieve.\u201d
\nThis year\u2019s landmark performance marks a considerable improvement in school results over the past few years and demonstrates that Tower Hamlets is bucking the trend: Nationally, the percentage of A-levels being awarded the top results has dropped for the second year running.
\nIn addition, this latest success comes as more local students than ever are securing places at top universities.
\nMayor Rahman added: \u201cThese outstanding results by our young people should make everyone involved in local education proud. The steadily-improving performance in the borough\u2019s schools is proof that investment, hard work and commitment are a winning combination
\n\u201cI hope that all those going on to university will apply for one of my Mayor\u2019s Higher Education Awards. If you haven\u2019t, I urge you to do so as soon as you have finished celebrating!\u201d
\nCllr Oliur Rahman, cabinet member for children, schools and families, said: \u201cAs a borough we are celebrating fantastic results but I know this is due to hundreds of superb individual achievements.
\n\u201cCongratulations to every sixth-form student in the borough and I wish you all the very best in your future careers.\u201d<\/p>\n
