Local entrepreneurs and business owners are being given the chance to network and tell the council how it can help to further boost trade in the borough.
\nThe Tower Hamlets Mayor\u2019s Business Forum will be held for a second year, at Tobacco Dock, Wapping, on October 28, 2014.
\nThe Forum is part of the council\u2019s enterprise strategy, which sets out the council\u2019s approach to economic growth and development across the borough.
\nTower Hamlets Mayor Lutfur Rahman said: \u201cTower Hamlets has one of the most dynamic local economies in the country. But we also have the potential to grow and develop further.
\n\u201cEvents like the Business Forum provide a platform to facilitate discussion with local businesses and identify new ways to boost our economic successes.\u201d
\nDeputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets and Cabinet Member for Economic Development (Jobs, Skills and Enterprise), Oliur Rahman said: \u201cThe business community in Tower Hamlets is already strong, and we want to do all we can to support them.
\n\u201cThe Mayor\u2019s Business Forum gives us the chance to listen to what local businesses need, and tailor our enterprise strategy towards additional local growth.\u201d
\nIn addition to the Forum, support for local businesses from the council currently includes:
\nnew grants of up to \u00a33,000 to help local businesses with internet costs;
\nfree access to Skillsmatch, a recruitment service for businesses across London;
\nfree attendance to the council\u2019s successful jobs fairs, which are regularly organised across the borough
\nPlaces at the Mayor\u2019s Business Forum are free for businesses in Tower Hamlets and the surrounding areas, but places must be booked in advance.
