\"Asad\"<\/a>Dancing, drawing and debating were just some of the activities older people got involved in at an interactive open day on November 24.
\nOrganised by Tower Hamlets Council\u2019s, Idea Store service, Full of Life, was aimed at informing older residents about the wide range of services available to them.
\nCurrently the Idea Stores host Golden Time where residents are encouraged to meet new friends and chat about books and IT for Beginners sessions, where you can pick up basic computer skills.
\nAdvice groups and organisations which took part in the event at Idea Store Whitechapel included Age UK East London, LinkAge Plus, University of the Third Age and Whitechapel Sports Centre.
\nMany residents were keen to sign up to volunteering opportunities in the borough offered by Intergen, AgeUK and Idea Stores (digital & reading buddy scheme).
\nMayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said: \u201cResidents in the borough have access to high quality services provided by the council and our thriving third sector.
\n\u201cIt is crucial older residents can access the right support to enable them to live independently and play an active role in society.\u201d
\nCllr Abdul Asad, cabinet member for health and adult services added: \u201cIt was great to see so many residents at the event who took advantage of the open day. There was a wide range of stalls and lots of information to pick up.\u201d<\/p>\n
