{"id":2926,"date":"2014-11-28T15:17:33","date_gmt":"2014-11-28T15:17:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/?p=2926"},"modified":"2014-11-28T15:17:33","modified_gmt":"2014-11-28T15:17:33","slug":"tower-hamlets-council-awarded-silver-at-clean-britain-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/tower-hamlets-council-awarded-silver-at-clean-britain-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Tower Hamlets Council awarded silver at Clean Britain Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Tower1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2475\" src=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Tower1.jpg\" alt=\"Tower\" width=\"215\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a>Tower Hamlets Council has achieved a Silver Award at the prestigious Clean Britain Awards for its innovative work keeping the borough clean.<br \/>\nThe Clean Britain Awards 2014 recognise the efforts of local authorities to achieve high standards of street cleanliness and environmental quality.<br \/>\nNow in their 25th year, the Clean Britain Awards celebrates the success of local authorities in maintaining high quality environments in promoting better quality of life for communities and supporting economic development and prosperity.<br \/>\nTower Hamlets Council won the award for its commitment and approach to street cleaning.\u00a0 Strong partnership working between the council and its cleaning contractor, Veolia, coupled with the introduction of innovative approaches to reporting through the Find it, Fix it, Love it app and quick response (QR) codes on bins has resulted in a smarter way of working and greater efficiency in deploying resources.<br \/>\nMayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, said: \u201cI am extremely proud of the work done in keeping the borough clean and this Silver award from Clean Britain is national acknowledgement of the hard work being done by the council.\u201d<br \/>\nCllr Shahed Ali, cabinet member for clean and green, said: \u201cCongratulations to all involved in gaining the Silver Clean Britain Award. It is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the clean streets in Tower Hamlets.<br \/>\n\u201cThe innovative approach to reporting issues is proving very popular with residents and was instrumental in gaining this award.\u201d<br \/>\nTower Hamlets Council was in the hotly contested category for large local authorities (population over 200,000) with Nottingham City Council and Enfield Council. Nottingham City Council was awarded Gold and Enfield Council awarded Bronze in the category.<br \/>\nThe Clean Britain Awards are run by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).
