(Reuters)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Muslim scholars in the Middle East who have denounced last week&#8217;s attack on Charlie Hebdo criticized the French satirical weekly on Wednesday for publishing new blasphemous cartoons in its first issue after the killings.<br \/>\nWhile mainstream Muslim leaders around the world have strongly condemned the attack on the newspaper, many said its decision to print more cartoons was an unnecessary provocation and sign of disrespect that would create a new backlash.<br \/>\nAlgeria&#8217;s independent Arab language daily Echorouk responded with a front page cartoon of its own, showing a man carrying a \u201cJe suis Charlie\u201d placard next to a military tank crushing placards from Palestine, Mali, Gaza, Iraq and Syria.<br \/>\nIn Iran, a leading conservative cleric, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem-Shirazi, said the publication of new images \u201camounts to declaring war on all Muslims\u201d.<br \/>\nMany people on the streets in the Middle East said it was time to move on. \u201cThe cartoons have no meaning, they should not affect us. We as Muslims are bigger and stronger than some cartoon. We should not pay attention, and if we react we should react with word for word and cartoon for cartoon,\u201d said Samir Mahmoud, a retired engineer in Cairo.<br \/>\nEmad Awad, a Christian in Cairo, said he understood the anger of his Muslim neighbors but hoped there would be no more unrest.<br \/>\n\u201cI reject completely that pictures of the prophet be published anywhere, but they&#8217;ve made their decision to do it yet again, to show their freedoms aren&#8217;t changed,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cNow that they&#8217;ve made their point, I really hope this is the last time they do this. I don&#8217;t think it will lead to more violence, but they missed an opportunity to leave the subject in the past and move forward.\u201d<br \/>\nIndia\u2019s leading Muslim group Jamaat-e-Islami Hind strongly condemned the magazine\u2019s move.<br \/>\n\u201cEven before the French government could make public the result of the probe into the terrorist attacks and conspiracies behind it, the magazine has announced to republish the controversial cartoons just to hurt the religious sentiments of world Muslims,\u201d said Nusrat Ali, JIH secretary-general.<br \/>\nHe said Charlie Hebdo\u2019s decision was extremely irresponsible and mischievous and aimed at spreading hatred toward Islam and Muslims in Europe and other parts of the world. \u201cThe French government\u2019s failure to stop the uncivilized acts of the magazine make its intention doubtful.\u201d<br \/>\nIran termed the move \u201cinsulting\u201d and \u201cprovocative\u201d.<br \/>\nForeign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said the killings in Paris bore \u201cno closeness or similarity to Islam\u201d and were \u201cin complete contradiction to Islamic teaching,\u201d she said.<br \/>\nHowever the new cartoon \u201cprovokes the emotions of Muslims around the world and hurts their feelings, and could fan the flame of a vicious circle of extremism,\u201d she told reporters.<br \/>\nAfkham said it was an \u201cabuse of freedom of speech, which is common in the West these days.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cWe condemn provocative moves and we regard the move by this weekly as being insulting,\u201d Afkham said, describing it as \u201cnot acceptable\u201d and arguing that such \u201cabuse should be prevented.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cRespecting the beliefs and values of followers of divine religions is an acceptable principle,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\r\n<script>(function(d, s, id) {\r\n  var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];\r\n  if (d.getElementById(id)) return;\r\n  js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;\r\n  js.src = \"\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_GB\/all.js#xfbml=1\";\r\n  fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);\r\n}(document, \"script\", \"facebook-jssdk\"));<\/script>\r\n <fb:comments href=\"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/french-magazines-fresh-anti-islam-insults-flayed\/\" font=\"arial\" num_posts=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" colorscheme=\"light\"  style=\"background:#FFFFFF;padding-top:0px;\r\npadding-right:0px;\r\npadding-bottom:0px;\r\npadding-left:0px;\r\nmargin-top:0px;\r\nmargin-right:0px;\r\nmargin-bottom:0px;\r\nmargin-left:0px;\r\n\"><\/fb:comments>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Muslim scholars in the Middle East who have denounced last week&#8217;s attack on Charlie Hebdo criticized the French satirical weekly on Wednesday for publishing new blasphemous cartoons in its first issue after the killings.
