\"S6\"<\/a>Samsung unveiled its latest Galaxy S6 series of smartphones in Barcelona this week, ahead of the 2015 Mobile World Congress, announcing the latest model as a \u201cmuch faster\u201d version of the popular phone, as well as a potential \u201cgame changer\u201d with its new mobile payments system.
\nThe slim-framed Galaxy S6 and the curved-edged variant – Edge – have an improved processor, camera and screen.
\nThey have also dropped some of the less popular in-house apps that used up much of the phone\u2019s memory.
\n\u201cI definitely liked the featured Edge,\u201d Sean Moshir, CEO of CellTrust, a leading provider of secure mobile communication software, told Al Arabiya News.
\n\u201cYou can see who is calling without flipping the phone over,\u201d Moshir, who attended the launch of the smartphone in the Spanish capital, said.
\nHe said the look of the Samsung S6 was \u201cslick\u201d and praised the phone\u2019s wireless charging capability.
\nZouheir Lakhdissi, CEO of the Casablanca-based Dial Technologies who also attended the launch, said the South Korean firm had \u201cset a new standard in the industry\u201d both in terms of design and features.
\nLakhdissi said Samsung had combined \u201cefficiency and design,\u201d adding that the rapid charging of the phone meant people could \u201chave [approximately] four hours lifetime of battery in 10 minutes.\u201d
\nBill Gajda, senior vice president at Visa, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, said of the phone\u2019s mobile payments system: \u201cThey implemented Samsung Pay as well, it is going to feature Visa, an important partner, so I think all of this together, the S6 is very impressive.\u201d
\nHe said Samsung Pay would be \u201ca huge boost for mobile payment.\u201d
\n\u201cI think the two technologies they put in, NFC and MST, will allow Samsung 6 to be used almost anywhere.\u201d
\nJoseph O\u2019Hara, from mobile network operator EE Limited, said that while some of the new elements of the Samsung phone \u201cmimic iPhone 6,\u201d he said the S6 was nevertheless \u201ca step further\u201d and a \u201cgame changer\u201d for those in retail given the new credit card payment feature.
\n\u201cIt has a ground-breaking design with the Edge concept,\u201d he added.
\nAsked if this would put more pressure on Apple, which by some estimates surpassed Samsung as the world\u2019s biggest smartphone maker late last year, O\u2019Hara said that while the U.S. company \u201cis more authentic from the grassroots and it will not copy Samsung,\u201d he said: \u201cIf I was Apple, Sony, HTC I would worry\u201d after Samsung S6.
\nGajda said competition between the smartphone makers was high but Samsung was \u201centering the mobile market and this would put pressure on everybody and it will allow everyone to innovate.\u201d
\n\u201cIt is the next generation smartphone,\u201d he concluded.
\nSamsung is yet to disclose pricing or where the phones will appear first.
\nSeveral phone companies launched new high-end smartphones on Sunday, including HTC, ahead of the launch of the Mobile World Congress, the world\u2019s biggest telecoms trade fair.<\/p>\n
