{"id":4445,"date":"2015-05-17T11:19:13","date_gmt":"2015-05-17T11:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/?p=4445"},"modified":"2015-05-17T11:19:13","modified_gmt":"2015-05-17T11:19:13","slug":"british-govt-announces-unusual-extra-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/british-govt-announces-unusual-extra-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"British govt announces \u2018unusual\u2019 extra budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Chancellor-George-Osborne.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4446\" src=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Chancellor-George-Osborne.jpg\" alt=\"Chancellor George Osborne\" width=\"270\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a>Britain\u2019s finance minister announced plans for a second 2015 government budget to quickly implement his Conservative Party\u2019s campaign promises of spending cuts and savings following a surprise election win.<br \/>\n\u201cOn the eighth of July I am going to take the unusual step of having a second budget of the year,\u201d Chancellor George Osborne wrote in The Sun newspaper.<br \/>\n\u201cI don\u2019t want to wait to turn the promises we made in the election into a reality .\u201d<br \/>\nOsborne was re-appointed finance minister following an election last week in which David Cameron won a surprise majority and a second term as prime minister.<br \/>\nThe chancellor has said he will strip out \u00a312 billion (16 billion euros, $19 billion) a year from Britain\u2019s welfare bill in a bid to balance the nation\u2019s books by 2020, but has not given full details on where the cuts will fall.<br \/>\nOsborne said it would be a \u201cbudget for working people\u201d that would protect the National Health Service, make savings in government administration and improve British productivity.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ll crack down hard on tax avoidance and aggressive tax planning by the rich \u2014 because everyone should pay their fair share,\u201d he wrote.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ll spend less on welfare and instead invest to create three million more apprenticeships, so that young people can learn a trade, get better jobs and earn more.\u201d<br \/>\nOsborne last delivered a budget on March 18.
