{"id":4485,"date":"2015-05-22T19:35:05","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T18:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/?p=4485"},"modified":"2015-05-22T19:35:05","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T18:35:05","slug":"suicide-blast-kills-19-at-mosque-in-saudi-arabia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/suicide-blast-kills-19-at-mosque-in-saudi-arabia\/","title":{"rendered":"Suicide blast kills 19 at mosque in Saudi Arabia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Saudi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4486\" src=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Saudi.jpg\" alt=\"Saudi\" width=\"298\" height=\"196\" \/><\/a>A suicide bomber blew himself up during Friday prayers at a mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh in eastern Saudi Arabia, killing at least 19 and wounding 100 others.<br \/>\n\u201cA suicide bomber detonated explosives he hid under his clothes as people performed their Friday prayers at the Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh, located in the Qatif province,\u201d the Saudi interior ministry said in a statement.<br \/>\nThe explosion killed the suicide bomber and a number of those performing their prayers and injured several others, the ministry added.<br \/>\n\u201cWe were doing the first part of the prayers when we heard the blast,\u201d worshipper Kamal Jaafar Hassan told Reuters by telephone from the scene.<br \/>\n\u201cRelevant authorities transferred those injured to hospitals. The authorities have taken the (required) measures to (address) the terrorist attack and investigate it,\u201d it also said.<br \/>\nPreliminary reports said 19 were killed and around 100 others were injured. Those injured by the explosion were transferred to the Qatif Central Hospital and Aramco Hospital for treatment.<br \/>\nThe village of al-Qadeeh, 500,000 m2, is northwest of the Qatif province and it\u2019s about one mile away from Qatif.<br \/>\nThe General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars condemned the \u201chideous\u201d attack which aims to harm the unity of the Saudi people and to destabilize the kingdom.<br \/>\nIt accused \u201ccriminal terrorists with foreign agendas\u201d of being behind the attack, adding that the assaulters acted out of spite to Saudi Arabia\u2019s performance of its religious, Arab and Islamic duties.<br \/>\nThe council\u2019s secretary general, Doctor Fahd bin Saad al-Majed, said the Saudi people\u2019s awareness will be the \u201cstrongest deterrent of these terrorists who lack faith and who aim to incite strife among the Saudis who enjoy security and stability in an area of conflicts.\u201d<br \/>\nHe urged all \u201ccitizens, scholars and intellectuals to strengthen unity and deter enemies who\u2019ve been trying for decades now to destabilize the kingdom.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cGod has prevented enemies (of the kingdom from achieving their aims) and so have our citizens and our brave security forces who scarified themselves to defend the religion\u2019s sanctities and the country\u2019s security and stability,\u201d the secretary general added.<br \/>\nThe kingdom\u2019s secretariat general of the supreme judicial council also condemned the attack saying it aims to incite divisions.<br \/>\n\u201cThis malicious criminal act has nothing to do with Islam or religion.
