\"UN\"<\/a>A daily flow of about 8,000 refugees to Europe is likely to continue, the United Nations warns.
\nThe figure came from UN regional coordinator for refugees, Amin Awad, in comments quoted by Reuters news agency.
\nMore than 5,000 refugees \u2013 many from Syria or Iraq \u2013 arrive daily in Greece.
\nThat flow could continue during the winter if the weather remains good and the borders open, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) told the BBC.
\nAbout half a million migrants \u2013 mostly from Syria and other conflict zones in the Middle East and Africa \u2013 have arrived in Europe this year.
\nThe influx has caused tensions between EU neighbours in Central Europe, which continued on Friday despite a visit to Austria by Hungary\u2019s Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
\nHe and Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann did not appear together in public after their talks.
\nMr Faymann had earlier likened Hungary\u2019s tough handling of migrants to the policies of Nazi Germany \u2013 a comparison angrily dismissed by Hungary.
\nSpeaking in Vienna, Mr Orban said Hungary had to build a fence on its border with Croatia like the razor-wire fence completed on its border with Serbia.
\nWhat happens on the Croatia-Hungary border will be \u201cdecisive in the next few days\u201d for the refugee crisis, he said. Hungary has nearly completed the fence on that border.
\nHungary\u2019s traditionally good relations with Austria must be maintained, Mr Orban said, urging Vienna to show \u201cclear support\u201d for protection of the EU\u2019s external borders.
\nHungary\u2019s recent completion of the barrier along its border with Serbia diverted the flow of migrants towards Croatia, the EU\u2019s newest member state.
\nOn Friday, Croatia re-opened its main border crossing with Serbia. Its closure of the crossing \u2013 prompted by the migrant influx \u2013 had raised tensions between the two countries.
\nVehicles were stopped and Serbia \u2013 a candidate to join the EU \u2013 angrily compared the restrictions with \u201cthose of the World War Two fascist regime\u201d.
\nScars remain from the Serb-Croat fighting of the 1990s when Yugoslavia disintegrated in inter-ethnic conflict.
