\"Tower\"<\/a>Last week, over three hundred residents celebrated Christmas at Dora Hall, Poplar, Tramshed Community Centre, Bethnal Green and at the Harford Centre, Stepney Green.
\nThe three parties were organised by local community groups, supported and sponsored by Tower Hamlets Homes (THH) together with THH\u2019s Decent Homes contractors \u2013 Axis, Richardson, and Chigwell
\nResidents enjoyed a Christmas dinner, carol singers, bouncy castle and Santa\u2019s Grotto, while younger residents were delighted to receive Christmas presents from Santa in his grotto.
\nPreviously, residents from all faith backgrounds were invited to Eid celebrations at Barley Mow, Latham House, Cranbrook Community Centre and Royal Mint Friendly Club. Over 100 residents attended each of these occasions.
\nThese parties were part of a series of events designed to foster understanding amongst communities, with THH teaming up with Muslim and non-Muslim community groups to organise Christmas and Eid celebratory events. A further five events are planned between now and Christmas.
\nLast year\u2019s multifaith celebrations, which brought together over 500 residents, were recognised with a TPAS Award for \u201cExcellence in the Community\u201d.
\n\"Tower<\/a>Janet Burns from Cranbrook Tenants\u2019 and Residents\u2019 Association (TRA) praised the events, saying: \u201cBefore today, I\u2019d never met many of my neighbours but, occasions like this have given us the opportunity to come together and share something really special \u2013 it\u2019s been great!\u201d
\nFokrul Hoque, THH\u2019s Strategic Engagement Manager, said: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic that something as simple as a party can bring together communities to enjoy a celebration, whilst learning about different faiths and traditions.
\n\u201cTower Hamlets is one of the most diverse boroughs in the UK, and events like this celebrate the strength & success of our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
