{"id":6471,"date":"2016-02-22T18:24:44","date_gmt":"2016-02-22T18:24:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/?p=6471"},"modified":"2016-02-22T18:24:44","modified_gmt":"2016-02-22T18:24:44","slug":"war-games-will-boost-military-ties-with-muslim-allies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/war-games-will-boost-military-ties-with-muslim-allies\/","title":{"rendered":"War games will boost military ties with Muslim allies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/War-games-will-boost-military-ties-with-Muslim-allies.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6472 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/War-games-will-boost-military-ties-with-Muslim-allies.jpg\" alt=\"War games will boost military ties with Muslim allies\" width=\"289\" height=\"174\" \/><\/a>The Middle East\u2019s largest ever war games are now underway and will boost military cooperation between the 20 Muslim nations taking part, host country Saudi Arabia said on Monday.<br \/>\nThe Northern Thunder exercises, which began on Feb. 14 and will run until March 10, involve more than 150,000 troops from the Gulf Arab nations, Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Jordan, Sudan and Senegal.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Council of Ministers &#8230; expressed the hope that these exercises achieve what was defined as their goals in exchanging expertise and raising the level of military coordination,\u201d cabinet said in a statement.<br \/>\nThe statement also praised \u201cthe levels of preparedness and administrative and supply capabilities\u201d shown by the nations participating in Northern Thunder exercises.<br \/>\nThe alliance is seen as a counterweight to Iran, which had been blamed by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states of interference in regional affairs.<br \/>\nOn Sunday, Prince Turki Al-Faisal said Muslim countries need to take the lead in fighting terrorism, adding that the Islamic counterterrorism alliance of 34 nations should have been created sooner.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s no secret, unfortunately, that in our world today the majority of terrorism-related acts, its victims are Muslim.
