{"id":7278,"date":"2018-01-28T10:46:02","date_gmt":"2018-01-28T10:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/?p=7278"},"modified":"2018-01-28T10:46:02","modified_gmt":"2018-01-28T10:46:02","slug":"billionaire-alwaleed-bin-talal-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/billionaire-alwaleed-bin-talal-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Billionaire Alwaleed bin Talal released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-661\" src=\"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Talal.jpg\" alt=\"Talal\" width=\"330\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Talal.jpg 408w, https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Talal-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/>Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has arrived home after being released from his detention in the Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh, Middle East Eye has learned.<br \/>\nThe Saudi billionaire had been held in the hotel in the Saudi capital since 4 November after being arrested as part of an anti-corruption crackdown.<br \/>\nFamily sources also said the prince was released on Saturday. &#8220;He has he arrived home,&#8221; one told Reuters.<br \/>\nA government source told AFP that he was released following a financial &#8220;settlement&#8221; with authorities<br \/>\n&#8220;The attorney general this morning approved the settlement with Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal,&#8221; the source said without disclosing any figures.<br \/>\nCrown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), the 32-year-old son of the king, has spearheaded the unprecedented crackdown on corruption among members of the government and royal family as he consolidates his grip on power in the kingdom.<br \/>\nAlwaleed, one of the world&#8217;s richest men and owner of Kingdom Holding Company, was among some 350 suspects rounded in the crackdown, most of whom have been released after agreeing financial settlements with the kingdom.<br \/>\nAccording to informed sources, MbS was demanding that Alwaleed sign over ownership of the entire Kingdom Holding Company and Alwaleed had been refusing to do this. If a settlement was not reached, Alwaleed was set to demand a trial.<br \/>\nIn an interview with Reuters on Saturday, the prince had said he expected to soon be released.<br \/>\n&#8220;There are no charges.
