{"id":7381,"date":"2018-02-12T22:12:02","date_gmt":"2018-02-12T22:12:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/?p=7381"},"modified":"2018-02-12T22:12:02","modified_gmt":"2018-02-12T22:12:02","slug":"court-orders-first-class-division-for-khaleda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/index.php\/court-orders-first-class-division-for-khaleda\/","title":{"rendered":"Court orders first class division for Khaleda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7347\" src=\"https:\/\/english.thesunrisetoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Khaleda-Zia.jpg\" alt=\"Khaleda Zia\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/>A Dhaka court has directed jail authorities to provide BNP chief Khaleda Zia with the facilities of first class division as per as provision of jail code.<br \/>\nThe court gave the order on Sunday morning after BNP\u2019s continuous push to ensure division for their party chief.<br \/>\nAt around 11:30am on Sunday, Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the special court-5 passed the directed the jail authorities to provide the facilities of first class division to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who was sentenced to five years imprisonment after being convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case by the same court.<br \/>\nEarlier in the morning, Advocate Sanaullah Miah filed a petition to the court seeking its directives in this regard.<br \/>\nOn Thursday, Khaleda, a 73-year-old former prime minister, was taken to the old central jail after a special court sentenced her to five years\u2019 imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.<br \/>\nFive other accused in the case, including her son and BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, were sentenced to 10 years\u2019 imprisonment each.<br \/>\nAccusing the government of keeping its chairperson Khaleda Zia in solitary confinement at the abandoned old Dhaka central jail, BNP on Saturday demanded that she be given division immediately.<br \/>\nOr else, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, the government will be held responsible if anything bad happens to Khaleda.<br \/>\nBNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed claimed that the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia had been kept in an \u2018old prison cell\u2019 in Old Central Jail in Dhaka.<br \/>\n\u201cShe is passing her days in jail just like any ordinary prisoner.
