\"Hasina\"<\/a>Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the January 5 general election was a victory of democracy and defeat of anti-democratic and anti-liberation forces.
\n“It clearly manifested the wishes of the people of Bangladesh for peace, constitutional discourse and progress,” she said adding her party wants to work with all political parties for overall welfare of the nation and to take the country forward.
\nIn her first post-election press conference, the Prime Minister also said the poll was a befitting reply of the people against terrorism and sabotage.
\nShe said the opposition left no stone unturned to foil the January 5 election but people spontaneously cast their votes braving all their evil designs.
\n“For this, I thanked the people on behalf of myself, the government, Bangladesh Awami League and 14-party alliance,” she said in the crowded press conference at the lawn of her Gonobhaban residence.
\nCongratulating the countrymen for taking part in yesterday’s polls despite all evil designs of the opposition to thwart democracy, she said, “People have given us vote and of course we will implement all programmes for socio-economic development of the country using the landslide victory of my party.”<\/p>\n
