Hartal, blockade unconstitutional: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque today said hartal and blockade are not constitutional rights.
“Hartal and blockade are illegal,” he told at a press briefing at Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) commissioner’s office here.
The IGP said the members of law enforcement agencies are empowered to take legal actions against the unconstitutional activities.
AKM Shahidul Hoque, said, “We will work to ensure security of the people and protect their lives and properties. The people will be with us.”
Deputy Inspector General of Sylhet Range Mizanur Rahman, SMP Commissioner Quamrul Ahsan and Police Super of the district Nur-e-Alam Mina, among others, were present on the occasion.
