Gaffar Chowdhury’s speech ‘a declaration of war against religion’
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has demanded punishment to columnist Abdul Gaffar Choudhury for his remark on Allah and prophet Muhammad.
BNP spokesperson Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon made the demand at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan office on Sunday.
“Abdul Gaffar Choudhury has hurt the religious sentiment of the country’s majority people and world Muslims by making adverse remarks against Allah and prophet Muhammad which creates chaos in society.Gaffar Chowdhury’s speech ‘a declaration of war against religion’ he added.
Media reported the columnist the made derogatory remarks at a programme at the permanent mission of Bangladesh at the United Nations recently.
Asaduzzaman Ripon said the country’s people have burst into anger demanding punishment of him for his audacious and disparaging remarks against their religious sentiment.
BNP leaders Abdul Latif Jony, Asadul Karim Shahin and others were present at the press conference.
