A courtesy meeting of prominent journalist Wazid Hasan Selim, Chairman of ‘The Sunrise Today’, the first full-fledged online portal of Bangla newspaper in Britain, with the Journalists of Print and Electronic media in Sylhet, has been held in the Sylhet City. The speakers of the meeting urged all journalists to uphold and present the positive aspects of Sylhet as well as Bangladesh across the globe and attract attention of the expatriates to Bangladesh for its socio-economic development.
Chaired by Mohammad Faizur Rahman Editor of The Daily Sylhet Songlap, the programme was held at a posh hotel in Zindabazar of the city on 7th March Wednesday, Wzid Hasan Selim chairman of ‘The Sunrise Today’ addressed the programme as Chief guest while Ikramul Kabir President of Sylhet Press Club, Prominent Journalist Al-Azad former president of Electronic Journalist Association, Muhit Chowdhury President of Sylhet Online Press Club, Iqbal Mahmud General Secretary of Sylhet Press Club, Abdul Hannan Vice-President of the same and Shah Didar Alam Nobel General Secretary of Sylhet District Press Club Spoke at the programme as honourable guest.
Wazid Hasan Selim, Chairman of the Sunrise Today, said, the main objective of the journey of this online portal is to uphold the image of Bangladesh outside the country and contribute to the development of the same. We will relentlessly work to develop the socio-economic development of the country and present the positive aspects of the same. We will also try to grow love within the people in Britain for Bangladesh and make contribution to it.
Conducted by journalist Advocate Abdul Mukit Opi, Kader Tapadar, Executive Editor, the Daily Jalalabad, Prominent writer Selim Awal, Syed Sujat Ali, Executive Editor of Daily Kazir Bazar, Advocate Mohammad Taj Uddin, Former Deputy Chief Reporter of Sylheter Dak, Kabir Ahmed Sohel, Editor of Daily Provatbela and Abul Mohammad, News Editor of Shyamol Sylhet delivered address of greetings. The address of welcome was delivered by Khaled Ahmed, Staff Reporter of the Daily Jalalabad.
Journalists of print and electronic media were present at the programme.
Ikramul Kabir, President of Sylhet Press Club, said, Media should be used in spreading the fame of Bangladesh across the globe. It will help to form public opinion as well.
Journalist Al Azad, said, we should change our mentality. We have to uphold the positive sides of our country through real practice of journalism. By means of this, new generations will be attracted to the country.
Muhit Chowdhury, President of Sylhet Online Press Club, said, nowhere such happened that happened in the Bengali media of Europe and UK. Media should play proper role to contribute to the welfare of the country.
Iqbal Mahmud, General Secretary of Sylhet Press Club, said, those who are involved in the media of UK or U.S.A, basically represent Sylhet. So, their journalism should be aimed at the development of the country.
Shah Didar Alam Nobel, General Secretary of Sylhet District Press Club, said, the news related to the development of the country should be presented abroad and thus the love of new generations for Bangladesh shall be increased.
Mohammad Faizur Rahman, Editor of Sylhet Songlap said, the youths of Bangladesh is spreading name and fame of Bangladesh outside the country by their genius and competence. In workplaces and positions, they are shining up. If the expat media publish and broadcast news about it, as a result everybody will came forward to the development of the country.
