46.72 lakh fresh voters in the draft voter list

The Election Commission will publish the draft of the updated voter list across the country on Friday and receive objections over fake voters and other anomalies till January 17.
“The draft of the electoral rolls will be published in district and upazila/thana election offices, and the offices of union parishads,
city corporations, municipalities and Cantonment Board tomorrow (Friday) simultaneously,” EC Secretary Sirazul Islam said at a press conference on Thursday.
The draft list will also be published on the EC’s website, he added. Some 46.72 lakh (4.67 million) people have been registered as fresh
voters during the three-phase countrywide voter list updating exercise that concluded on November 15 starting from May 15, 2014,
the EC Secretary said.
Sirazul Islam said the commission has already appointed regional election officers, district and upazila/thana election officers,
district magistrate, additional deputy commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officers to dispose of the objections by January 22.
The final voter list will be published on January 31, he said adding that the number of the country’s present voters is 9.20 crore (91.98 million), EC Secretary said.
About the eligible but dropped people from the voter lists, he said they still have the chance of being enlisted as voters till January
17.
Those got dropped are suggested to collect a special voter registration form from upazila/thana election offices, if they want
to be voters.
EC joint secretary Jesmin Tuli and EC director SM Asaduzzaman were present at the press conference, held at the EC media centre.
