Police OC dies during Sylhet clash

A police officer has slumped dead after suffering a heart attack while tackling a clash between rival factions of auto-rickshaw drivers in Sylhet.
At least 15 persons, including policemen, were injured when trouble broke out at Goalabazar at 3pm on Wednesday, said Sylhet’s Additional Superintendent of Police Nazmul Hasan.
“Mostafizur Rahman fell sick during the clash. He died at Sylhet’s MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital after he was taken there. The doctor said he suffered a heart attack.”
He said auto-rickshaw drivers blocked the Sylhet-Dhaka Highway demanding that a terminal be set up at Goalabazar. Later police dispersed them.
A clash ensued between the police and drivers when they blocked the highway again around 12pm.
Over a dozen business institutions, including a branch of Dutch-Bangla Bank, were vandalised during the clash, said the ASP.
