Volunteering opportunity for young people
Tower Hamlets Council is looking to recruit 15 young people aged 16-24 to volunteer for six months at one of the borough’s youth centres.
Successful youngsters will have the opportunity to deliver a social action project and complete a minimum level 2 qualification in youth work.
The young people would need to commit to a full day of training in addition to attending three evening sessions at the nominated youth centre between February and September this year.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, said: “Young people are at the very heart of this community and that is why I am committed to supporting opportunities like this which give our young people the boost they need to reach their potential.”
The scheme gives young people the chance to develop their employability skills and receive tips on their CV, presentation and interview skills.
Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families, Cllr Oliur Rahman, said: “We offer a fantastic array of activities, courses and events for young people and this scheme will give young people the opportunity to experience what it’s like to deliver youth projects.”
Young people have until Monday, February 24, to register their interest by emailing their CV and a covering letter explaining why they would like to take part to: Hasan.Faruq@towerhamlets.gov.uk.
Travel and food expenses can be covered depending on individual requirements.
